Animal Collective have put together a free mp3 mixtape to herald the upcoming ATP festival that they’re curating.
Focussed on artists that they’ve picked to play the festival, which takes place at Butlins in Minehead on May 13-15, it features their own ‘Fireworks’ alongside tracks from their mates Ariel Pink, Grouper, Black Dice, Eric Copeland and Gang Gang Dance, something from Pete ‘Sonic Boom’ Kember as Spectrum (who has mixed Panda Bear’s new solo LP Tomboy), plenty of UK house and dubstep-derived fare from the likes of Floating Points and Zomby, bruised guitar psych from Sublime Frequencies-flagged Group Doueh, an extract from ‘Four Violins’ by the legendary Tony Conrad, and much more besides – check the full track below.
It’s pure audio edutainment, basically, and clearly worth a spin. Stream and download it via Soundcloud.

I feel like this ATP playlist is like what’s on the ipod of anyone who was in their 20s in the mid 2000s and similarly the bardo pond set a few years back was like a playlist of anyone’s computer who was like 20 something at the turn of the century.
