We’re thrilled to learn that the stars of Shangaan Electro will be coming to the UK as part of a European tour.

We were first alerted to this strain of popular South African dance music via Honest Jon’s revelatory 2010 compilation, simply entitled Shangaan Electro. One of the comp’s highlights, Nozinja‘s ‘Nwa Gezani My Love’, ended up being officially ranked at #11 in FACT’s official tracks of the year selection (unofficially it was #1). Nozinja, inimitable performer (just watch the video below) and studio mastermind behind innumerable street-level hits in his homeland, will headline the European tour with the masked Tshetsha Boys, Tuiselani and Nkata Mawewe plus “the fastest Shangaan dancers around”.

The tour’s stops will include the Sónar festival in Barcelona, Rich Mix in London, Manchester’s Islington Mill and Berlin’s Berghain. Full schedule below.
