Behold the exquisite gloom of HTRK’s ‘Synthetik’.

The Melbourne-hailing, UK-based band have overcome real tragedy – the death last year of founder member Sean Stewart – to complete their finest album to date, Work (Work, Work). ‘Synthetik’ is typical of the LP in its exploration of bottomless, romantic melancholy, beautifully produced and with a haunting, unforgettable melody at its centre. The closes contemporary comparison we can think of is Tropic of Cancer (Blackest Ever Black, Downwards), who have been supporting HTRK on recent shows, with a European tour imminent.

HTRK will be appearing at the Unsound festival in Krakow on Wednesday 12 October, appearing on a bill at the Manggha arts space with Mego-affiliated audio-visual artist Robin Fox and Raster-Noton’s bass-heavy, electronic pop juggernaut Kangding Ray. For more information and tickets, click here.

The official promo clip for ‘Synthetik’, which you can view above, is the work of Polish video artists Pussykrew, who will also be appearing at Unsound.
