Independent Label Market returns to London in May

Record Store Day isn’t the only intriguing vinyl event taking place this Spring.

The third Independent Label Market will take place in Old Spitalfields Market on May 19. Rather charmingly, the event enlists independent label bosses to sell their wares directly to the public. The label bigwigs will be hawking both new and rare vinyl from their respective catalogues.

Bella Union boss and ex-Cocteau Twin Simon Raymonde gives a heartwarming account of the last Independent Label Market event: “The sight of Laurence Bell in his “Domino” boilersuit, there at 8:30am, also hammering bits of metal together to create the stall, was re-assuring, and the day just got better and better. Love was all around. Special moments were in abundance.”

R&S, Bella Union, Tri Angle, Moshi Moshi, Domino, Fabric, One Little Indian, Fat Cat, Chess Club and Heavenly will all be returning for the festival. There are also some exciting new additions to the project: Warp, Transgressive, Fantasy Sound and Fat Cat Because will be appearing for the first time. Many more labels and special events will be announced in the coming weeks. More information is available from the Independent Label Market website.
