Early Radiohead demo tapes going for $50K on eBay

Radiohead’s first four demo tapes are on eBay — for a cool 50 large.

As reported by Stereogum, a top-rated eBay seller is looking to move Radiohead’s first four demo cassettes, dating from the late 80s/early 90s. At the time of tapes like Manic Hedgehog, Radiohead was known as On A Friday and then Shindig, before Thom Yorke and company borrowed their current moniker from a song on Talking Heads’ True Stories album.

Some of the cassettes include early versions of songs that would later appear on the band’s 1993 debut Pablo Honey. Fans can “Buy It Now” for $49,999.99, or make an offer (three people have already). Alternatively, Stereogum points to somewhere fans can procure the demos for significantly less. Stream On A Friday’s ‘Girl (In A Purple Dress)’ below.
