Alt.rock giants The House Of Love are preparing to lumber back into view with their sixth studio LP.

Chadwick, Bickers et al remain best known for 1988’s The House Of Love, a lush post-punk album that makes any respectable music fans’ ‘Top 5 Creation LPs’ list. The group turned out three more records before a messy split in 1993, and subsequently reconvened in 2003 for a series of tours, a new album (2005’s solidly received Days Run Away) and a glut of reissues.

As The Quietus report, the group will drop a new album in 2013. She Paints Words In Red was recorded over ten days last month, and features production from long-time collaborator Pat Collier.

According to Guy Chadwick, his famously fractious relationship with guitarist Terry Bickers is holding strong: “It was great to be recording again, and everything went to plan and gelled from the onset. Terry and I have got back to our original working relationship, with a few healthy quarrels thrown in still! We had just played a festival in Krakow, where we had a brilliant gig, so everyone was vibed up and ready to go”.

She Paints Words In Red is due on April 1 on Cherry Red Records.
