Stream the Pixies first song in almost a decade, 'Bagboy'

Year of the comeback and all, but we didn’t see this coming. Legendary rockers the Pixies have released their first track in close to a decade, titled ‘Bagboy’.

Pixies released four albums between 1988 and 1991, with the first pair, Surfer Rosa and Doolittle, considered two of indie rock’s all-time greatest records. The group split in 1993 following various disputes and fall-outs, but eventually reunited for a full tour in 2004. That same year they released ‘Bam Thwok’, their last single.

From what we understand, there are plans for a new Pixies album but the timeframe is currently anybody’s guess. You can stream and download ‘Bagboy’ below, and find out where the group ranked in FACT’s 100 Best Albums of the 1980s here.

Update: A representative for the group has claimed there are no plans for a new Pixies album, which isn’t what we’ve heard – the group have certainly recorded more than just this one song, and an album has been discussed. Of course, this could have changed due to Kim Deal’s recent departure from the band.
