42-song Arrested Development soundtrack to see release

42 songs from the cult comedy make the final countdown.

At Long Last…Music and Songs From Arrested Development will be released by Varèse Sarabande Records on November 19. The soundtrack collects 42 songs written and recorded for the cult sitcom. In May, the show’s fourth season was broadcast by Netflix; it aired for three seasons on Fox before being cancelled in 2006.

“Because of fan demand, a majority of the album is weighted toward the songs. Most of the songs composed for the show came together organically, but quite often Mitch [Hurwitz] would call me up requesting one and float some lyrics by me while he was driving,” says composer David Schwartz. “When it comes to the humor and parody of the songs, Mitch has a great deal of trust in the show’s super smart fans. He never wants any musical reference to be too obvious.”

The soundtrack includes fan favorites ‘It Ain’t Easy Being White’, ‘All You Need Is Smiles’, and ‘Balls In The Air’, along with loads of character themes and musical cues. The annotated tracklist follows, along with a bit of ‘Getaway’, from the show’s fourth season.
