Smiths guitarist and Manchester icon says he already has an agreement with a publisher.

In the afterglow of Morrissey’s best-selling Autobiography, former bandmate Johnny Marr has revealed his own plans to write a memoir.

In an interview with Brooklyn Vegan, the singer and guitarist confirmed that a book was on the way, saying: “I’ve had so many offers and so many people advising me that my story is worth it, but I understand it’s something that I have to do.”

“I’ll do it in the next couple of years,” he added. “I’m into from the stance that I want it to be so thorough that I don’t make a record or tour whilst I was doing it. It is gonna happen, and I’ve already made an agreement with a publisher for it, so I will get it done.”

After the dissolution of The Smiths in 1987, Marr played in a number of other bands, including The The, Modest Mouse and The Cribs. He released his debut solo record The Messenger this February.

Earlier this month it was announced that the audiobook of Morrissey’s memoir will be read by another person named Morrissey. For a condensed version of the singer’s tome, check out our guide to Autobiography’s highlights in 10 songs. [via NME]
