2013 marks the 20th anniversary not only of the decade’s best rap album, but also one of its very biggest – Snoop Dogg‘s Doggystyle.

When Snoop’s gangsta rap touchstone arrived in 1993, it became the fastest selling album of all time in the US, and consolidated the rapper’s position as one of the West Coast’s most distinctive voices. The record also saw Dr. Dre’s iconic G-funk sound reach its mid ’90s acme, offering a rich platter of sleek funk and souped-up classic soul.

As Complex report, Snoop has dusted off his DJ Snoopadelic alias to pull together a mix of all the samples featured on the album. It’s as much a director’s commentary as it is a mix, with the rapper giving some anecdotal insight on the tracks throughout the session.

We recently plunged into Snoop’s discography to unearth his most unexpected collaborations from the last two decades. He will release 7 Days of Funk, his collaborative LP with Dam-Funk, next month.
