17steps-5.21.2014

Nick Harriman and Alfie Granger-Howell (aka Dusky) kick off 17 Steps today, and are celebrating the occasion with a brand new EP.

The London duo have been making waves in the scene for some time now, recording a slew of 12″s for such esteemed imprints as Aus, School, Naked Naked and Anjunadeep. Now it’s time for them to go it alone, however, and gleaning influence from “British rave aesthetics” and “both classic and contemporary electronic music of all forms,” Dusky look as if they’re set to do it right.

Dusky had the following to say over the announcement:

“Over the last few years our identity as artists has continued to grow and crystallise into something we never envisaged possible. The introduction of 17 Steps feels like a natural phase in our development, and a logical move that enables us to take more control of our musical identity and provide a platform for music by other artists that we believe in.”

The first release on 17 Steps will be an EP entitled Love Taking Over from Dusky themselves, and is due to drop on July 14. You can hear clips over at the label’s brand spanking new website 17stepsrecordings.com.
