Musicians Eric Reed and Willie Jones III are suing Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar for reportedly using elements of their music on his 2011 track ‘Rigamortis’.

Composer Reed and drummer Jones released the track ‘The Thorn’ back in 2010 (on Jones’ The Next Phase full-length), and the two claim in their lawsuit that “‘The Thorn’ isn’t merely part of “Rigamortis” … IT IS ‘Rigamortis.'”

Since they’re uncredited on the song and certainly weren’t informed of its usage, the two musicians are suing for at least $1,000,000 and also seeking the profits and rights to ‘Rigamortis’. If you listen to the two tracks side-by-side you can certainly hear what they’re talking about – Lamar’s now-signature rapping might fizz over the top of the track, but it sounds a lot like ‘The Thorn’ underneath.
