The Clannad chanteuse is making waves again.

Nicki Minaj has said that one of the major influences on her new album The Pinkprint is visionary Irish singer and millionaire hitmaker Enya.

“One of my biggest is Enya. There are two records early in the album where the airiness and the whimsicalness remind me of Enya, and I sort of crafted it thinking about her and the way her music makes me feel,” Minaj told V magazine.

We’ve not picked up on any similarities to the Watermark singer’s uniquely dreamy sound in Minaj’s recent singles, but we’ll soon find out when The Pinkprint drops on December 15.

Either way, it’s satisfying to see Enya’s wafty synths and mesmeric vocals making a non-ironic comeback – just listen to Burial’s masterpiece ‘Rival Dealer’ for proof. [via Popjustice]
