The young “DJ” strips house music back to its rhythmic essence.

Mozambique DJ Castro hasn’t let the absence of electronics get in the way of his desire to perform. The youngster creates compelling, percussive covers of house and kuduro tracks using only his voice and a water bottle.

Performing behind a broken laptop and Fisher Price mixer, DJ Castro strings together an amazingly precise 11-minute set that includes a cover of Dennis Ferrer’s house anthem ‘Hey Hey’.

The remarkable video is a stirring reminder that talent, and not technology, is all you need to create an infectious groove.
