Godspeed You! Black Emperor will release a new album, titled asunder, sweet and other distress, on March 30.

The album will be released by the band’s usual home of Constellation, who claim that it’s “the most focused and best-sounding recording of the band’s career.”

asunder was recorded with engineer Greg Norman in North Carolina and the band’s hometown of Montreal, throughout 2013 and 2014. The influential instrumental group’s last record was 2012’s Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend!, their first album since a decade away (though they had played live shows in this time, and have tested material from the new album in more recent concerts).

The album clocks in at a mere (for Godspeed) 40:23, and will be available on CD and vinyl. The latter comes in a heavyweight gatefold jacket with full-colour printed dust sleeve, pull-out art poster and download code for 320 kbps MP3 copy of the album.
