Jack White has been revealed as the mysterious buyer of Elvis Presley’s first ever recording.

White paid $300,000 for the record, which was recorded in Memphis in July, 1953. The prized recording features covers of ‘My Happiness’ and ‘That’s When Your Heartaches Begin’.

The covers were pressed to an acetate disc which is the only one of its kind in existence. It was recently sold at a Graceland auction on what would have been the singer’s 80th birthday.

During an interview with Billboard, White also revealed that he plans to reissue the record via his own Third Man imprint. The reissue will be available on Record Store Day, held on April 18. [via Billboard]
