Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel mix show relaunches with a wealth of goodies.

Launched in 1988 by Coldcut’s Matt Black and Jonathan More (later joined by PC, Strictly Kev and producer Darren ‘DK’ Knott), Solid Steel has hosted mixes by a wealth of talent over the last 20+ years.

The show will relaunch with mixes from Caribou and Colleen this week, while next week’s session will feature sets from Four Tet and Anthony Naples. On top of that, they’ll be uploading over 50 mixes from the Solid Steel archives, starting with sessions from Juan Atkins (1988), Herbert’s Dr. Rockit alias (1995), Autechre (1997), Manitoba and Caribou (2000, 2005).

Over the next few months, there’ll also be archive uploads from The Bug’s Ice project, Diplo, Hudson Mohawke, Tortoise, DJ Shadow and more, and interviews with the likes of David Axelrod.

Check out the new Solid Steel site here (designed by antipattern), and revisit Joe Muggs’ oral history.
