Apple co-founder Steve Jobs will be the subject of a forthcoming opera.

Titled The Revolution of Steve Jobs, it will be a production by the Santa Fe Opera company, who announced their plans yesterday. It will premiere in 2017, written by composer Mason Bates and librettist Mark Campbell.

According to Billboardit will “examine Jobs facing his own mortality and circles back to the events and people in his past that shaped and inspired him.”

General Director of the company Charles MacKay says “We are delighted to take this journey into the life and legacy of a distinctly American figure”, while Bates describes Jobs’ story as “a great intersection of creativity, innovation and human communication.”

Jobs died in October 2011 after a long-running battle with cancer.
