Watch the famous author weigh in on the pop star’s lyricism.

Salman Rushdie needs no introduction and neither does Drake. Recently, the CBC interviewed Rushdie about his new book Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights and gave him some Drizzy lyrics to read aloud.

Rushdie commented on the lyrics and is pretty enthusiastic about them. You can read some of his responses below, but the video is required viewing if only to see the author of The Satanic Verses say “you was poppin’ back when Usher wore a U-chain/Goddamn, you changed”. [via Noisey]

“Lately I feel the haters eating away at my confidence, they scream out my failures and whisper my accomplishments”

“Yeah, I know how that feels”.

“Running through the 6 with my woes/ Counting money, you know how it goes/ Pray the real live for ever/Pray the fakes get exposed”

“I like that one, that’s my favorite so far”.
