Trump has faced a string of rejections from musicians so far.

The Beach Boys have confirmed that they are considering an offer to perform at Trump’s inauguration next month.

“No decision has been made at this point as to how or whether they will participate,” a spokesperson for the group told Billboard. “We will let you know as soon as a decision is final.”

The group have chopped and changed their political affiliations throughout their career, having performed for George HW Bush, Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan, who dubbed them “American’s Band” in 1983.

Mike Love, who heads the Beach Boys current touring lineup, is a staunch Republican. He previously played a fundraiser for John McCain in 2008, at which the senator infamously sung a parody of the Beach Boys 1965 hit ‘Barbara Ann’, modifying the chorus to: “Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran.”

Love also told the New York Post in September that Trump has “been a friend for a long time.” He added: “Does that mean I agree with everything he says? No. But… if we were asked [to play his inauguration], I’m sure that we would.”

Trump has struggled to find stars to perform at his inauguration in January, with the likes of Elton John, Gene Simmons and Garth Brooks declining his offer.

Celine Dion was also asked to play but passed due to touring commitments, according to TMZ.

Rapper Post Malone recently said that he would be willing to play Trump’s inauguration for the right sum, despite previously supporting Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

Currently, only one performer has been confirmed: 16-year-old opera singer Jackie Evancho, who will sing the national anthem at the event.
