Grimes donates $10,000 to Muslim civil rights group

Fans are also responding to Sia’s $100,000 charity pledge.

Grimes has paid out $10,000 to a Muslim civil rights advocacy group after pledging to match donations made by fans.

Supporters tweeted screenshots of their donations to CAIR Foundation, the charity arm of the Council on American–Islamic Relations, in response to Grimes’ callout after President Trump announced a ban on immigration from a string of Muslim-majority countries.

Within a few hours, fans had donated $10,000, prompting Grimes to share a screenshot of her matched contribution.

Meanwhile, Sia has pledged to match up to $100,000 in donations to the American Civil Liberties Union to “help our queer and immigrant friends”.
