The long-awaited reissue will include unreleased music from the late icon’s infamous vault.
To coincide with Prince finally landing on Spotify, Warner Bros. have announced that the eagerly-awaited reissue of his 1984 classic Purple Rain is coming in June – and it will feature unreleased music and concert films from the Paisley Park vault.
As Rolling Stone reports, the reissue – which was first announced back in 2014 to mark the 30th anniversary – is the first posthumous Prince release following last November’s Prince 4Ever compilation. It’s arriving on June 9.
The remastered deluxe edition has been created using plans that were “agreed upon with Prince before he passed away,” and is accompanied by two albums of “previously unreleased Prince music and two complete concert films.” The finer details of the extra material are not yet known.
On Sunday night, Bruno Mars took to the Grammys stage to honor Prince with a performance of the Purple Rain standout ‘Let’s Go Crazy’.
