Damon Albarn has revealed details of the forthcoming third Gorillaz album, entitled Plastic Beach.

Speaking to Paul Morley in an audio interview for The Guardian, Albarn said he felt the album reflected a particularly “dystopian, British melancholia”.

He also revealed that the record – due for release by EMI in 2010 – features guest contributions from Bobby Womack, Barry Gibb (The Bee Gees), Snoop Dogg, Mos Def and the Syrian National Orchestra. Apparently he also wanted Engelbert Humperdinck to be involved, but couldn’t make it happen.

The sometime Blur frontman got the idea for the title from the beach outside his house in Devon that’s littered with plastic bottles.
