Paris dwelling sisters CocoRosie have announced details of their new album.

Titled Grey Oceans, it will be Bianca and Sierra Casady’s fourth long player to date, and features eleven new tracks from the pair, who were originally born in the US. As ever, both contribute vocals, while Sierra plays harp and Bianca percussion (and children’s toys).

Jazz pianist Gael Rakotondrabe features heavily on the album, the first session of which
“lasted for five days and five nights”. “Everything at that point was based on improvisation”, say the sisters. The first song we recorded was ‘God Has a Voice, She Speaks Through Me’, a dance song about suicide, spiritual ecstasy and life under the veil.”

Other parts of the album were recorded in various studios between live shows, in Buenos Aires, Berlin, New York, Melbourne and more. It will be released on May 3, via PIAS.

CocoRosie found fame when their self-circulated debut La Maison de Mon Reve (2004) was re-issued on Touch and Go. 2005’s Noah’s Ark and 2007’s The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn followed. The pair have collaborated with Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons in their time, and count Talking Heads’ David Byrne among their fans.
