Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood has proven himself to be quite the soundtrack composer over the last few years, with memorable scores for Bodysong and There Will Be Blood under his belt.
Last year it emerged that he’d written original music for the Japanese movie adaptation of Haruki Murakami’s cult novel Norwegian Wood. The film saw theatrical release in December 2010, and that same month Greenwood’s soundtrack was issued on CD in Japan, having received its live premiere back in March. Nonesuch have now announced that they’ll be releasing a UK edition of the album on March 8, 2011.
Greenwood’s music for Norwegian Wood was performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Emperor Quartet, and is split into 11 tracks on the CD. These are interspersed with three Can tracks: ‘Maru, Mary, So Contrary’, ‘Bring Me Coffee Or Tea’ and ‘Don’t Turn The Light On, Leave Me Alone’.
