Sigur Rós prepare new album Kveikur for XL

By , Mar 22 2013

Hard working Icelandic post rockers Sigur Rós are set to return with Kveikur this year.

Following last year’s relatively understated Valtari, the band have promised to move towards a more aggressive sound on their new LP, three tracks of which they performed in February. One new track, ‘Brennistein’ appeared today with a video as a teaser of the record, and certainly finds them in a darker, noisier realm than you might expect.

The record will appear on the XL imprint, and if you fancy an early taste of what it’s likely to have in store for us, the Icelandic three piece are just about to start an extensive world tour. Interestingly the US dates see FACT faves Oneohtrix Point Never and Tim Hecker in support, which should sweeten the deal a little.
