Red Bull Music Academy offers MIDI versions of Flying Lotus, TNGHT, Mount Kimbie, and more

RBMA launches a nostalgic website to accompany their recent documentary series.

In the spirit of H∆SHTAG$, the series of mini-docs about “Internet influenced” music, Red Bull Music Academy has launched the Red Bull MIDI Academy. The site, complete with Geocities-era web graphics, includes versions of songs by featured artists in everyone’s favorite pre-MP3 format: the MIDI file.

Claiming to be a “trusted outernational of top precision MIDI-makers, website engineers and friends of the famous Red Bull Music Academy,” the team behind the website has reworked songs by Flying Lotus, TNGHT, Mount Kimbie, Spaceghostpurrp, How To Dress Well, and more into tinny MIDI-styled files.

Watch the latest installation of H∆SHTAG$, which details the world “cloud rap,” below. RBMA New York has announced an impressive list of events and guest speakers.
