Stream Julia Holter, Laurel Halo and Daniel Wohl's recent performance at New York's Merkin Concert Hall

Last weekend saw two of oddball pop music’s finest in Laurel Halo and Julia Holter team up with electroacoustic composer Daniel Wohl and live quartet Transit for an evening at the Ecstatic Music Festival.

Taking place at New York’s Merkin Concert Hall, the performance was described by radio station WQXR as “ambient clouds of sound that blurred the lines between composition and improvisation. Field recordings and the pointillistic entrances of Transit – a quartet of piano, violin, cello and percussion – colored the resonant vocals of Holter and Halo with expressive impact.”

The show had been prepared across a series of meetings between Holter, Halo and Wohl, and WQXR are now hosting the full recording of it. Stream it below [via The Quietus], and read up on Halo’s new EP Behind the Green Door here.
