In the year’s most predictable news story, Freebass, the trio of New Order and Joy Division’s Peter Hook, Primal Scream’s Mani and The Smiths’ Andy Rourke have split.

And far be it from some of rock music’s most coke-bloated egos to go out without a squabble. Shortly after the group’s split, Mani took to Twitter (where else?) to launch an outburst against Hook, accusing him of exploiting Joy Division’s past glories when playing their Unknown Pleasures album in full at Shoreditch’s 1234 festival.

There’s an absolute torrent of these Twitter posts, the picks of which can be found below, but our fav is undoubtedly “three things visible from space, Great Wall of China, Peter Hook’s wallet stuffed with Ian Curtis’ blood money, Man City’s trophy cabinet!”

We’re also fans of the parts where Mani, with seemingly no sense of self-awareness, refers to himself as “universally loved” and “exist[ing] in the here and the now.” Get your rocks off.

Freebass’s album, It’s a Beautiful Life is still due for release this month, despite Mani dismissing it as “where it belongs… in the fucking bargain bin before it’s even released.”
