Bristol based producer Guido, known for his acclaimed ‘Orchestral Lab’ and ‘Beautiful Complication’ singles, will release his debut album this May.

Released via Punch Drunk, the label owned by Bristol dubstep icon Peverelist, who also runs the city’s Rooted Records shop, Anidea features 12 tracks by Guido, including a new version of ‘Way U Make Me Feel’ (the B-side to ‘Orchestral Lab’), vocalled by Yolanda, who dubstep fans will know from her work with Pinch and who has also been touring with Massive Attack. That will be released as a digital single to precede the album.

Guido made his name through association with fellow Bristolians Joker and Gemmy; together the three were labelled ‘the purple trilogy’ due to their shared love of vibrant synth textures and 8-bit sounds. He’s arguably surpassed both though, colour-soaked dubplates like ‘Tango’ and ‘Cat in the Window’ indicating that his past singles were no fluke. It’s appropriate that he’s the first of the three to release an album.

Anidea will be released on CD, vinyl (six tracks) and digital. For those looking for a sound that takes in the Bristol soundsystem history of groups like Smith and Mighty, grime and dubstep at its most colourful (Ruff Sqwad; Ikonika) and overground US hip-hop production at its most inventive (Timbaland; Neptunes), this might just be your album of the year.
