Utilitarian surf-rock beats from Michael Benjamin Lerner.
Seattle-based musician Michael Benjamin Lerner has been making music as Telekinesis since 2009. His fifth album for Merge Records, Effluxion, was released earlier this year and to mark the occasion we visited the artist in his studio to put his skills to the test.
Settling on what Lerner describes as “the most utilitarian beat possible”, courtesy of his trusty TR-707, watch as he crafts a woozy surf-rock instrumental, complete with spacey synth pads and a chugging bass riff, all in just 10 minutes.
Telekinesis has upcoming tour dates throughout North America. For more information, head over to his website.
