Animal Collective have announced details of their involvement in a “psychedelic” art show, set to take place at New York’s Guggenheim Museum on March 4 (via NME).

The 3-hour performance Transverse Temporal Gyrus, staged to celebrate the museum’s 50th anniversary, is a collaboration between the band and Danny Perez, and will feature music recorded specifically for the show.

“As New Yorkers we are all familiar with the everyday noise around us,” the band said in a statement. “We wanted to create an environment where people could take some time to listen to other kinds of sounds and get away from those familiar sounds of the city.”

The group said that they will turn the museum into “mysterious hideaway” with music, projections, costumes, and props. Tickets for the three-hour performance go on sale at guggenheim.org for museum members tomorrow (February 18) at 10am (EST) and for non-members on Friday (February 19) at 10am (EST).
