Black T-shirts at the ready.

In time-honoured tradition, revellers at Bloc Festival are encouraged to dress up for the last day of the event, with the theme selected by the organisers. This year? Richie Hawtin.

Bloc asked attendees to suggest a theme on its Facebook page, with the one that received the most likes making the cut. The suggestion of Hawtin was the runaway winner with 130 likes, beating The Warriors, Twin Peaks and our personal favourite, Four Decades of Ian Beale.

“The fancy dress competition has yielded a clear winner – we are overjoyed to be celebrating the innovative genius of Richie Hawtin,” Bloc said on Facebook. “It’s difficult to express how much joy R Hawtin has provided us with through the years, but we hope that celebrating his work through the medium of interpretative dress will go some way towards it.”

The theme will probably yield a lot of blonde wigs and black T-shirts, but we’re hoping to see a few Hawtin Cubes and Plastikmen too.

Bloc 2016’s stellar line-up features Thom Yorke, Jeff Mills, Holly Herndon, Floating Points, Nina Kraviz and more. The festival takes place from March 11-13 – tickets are still available at the Bloc website. [via Mixmag]
