Another striking video from the experimental rap trio.
From curb-stomped porcelain heads to horror stories that only film the subject’s feet, clipping. have had a knack for unflinchingly surreal music videos. Their latest, for ‘Air ‘Em Out’ off the upcoming Splendor & Misery, is no exception.
In a single, unmoving shot, rapper Daveed Diggs struggles to maintain the gravity around him as objects float in the air. He accepts all of this with a calm, though that may have something to do with the pills he swallows throughout.
The video’s sci-fi tone reflects Splendor’s concept which they previously described as a dystopian concept album set in space.
It comes from the group’s first full-length since Diggs’ run in the Broadway hit Hamilton, for which he won a Tony Award.
Watch it above and grab Splendor & Misery September 9 via Sub Pop.
