Nicki Minaj’s new single just hit the net, and it’s not great. Sure, she’s become a huge deal in the time that’s passed between those classic mixtapes and last year’s inescapable ‘Super Bass’, and there’s always going to be concessions to the charts as a result – that’s fine, we know that; with ‘Super Bass’ and ‘Your Love’, she’s already proved she can make great chart music. Even with ‘Stupid Ho’, at least that single seemed genuinely unhinged, and you know, interesting. But ‘Starships’? The guitar licks? The drop? This makes the new Cassie seem like a masterpiece.
