Gold Panda keeps things jagged and forlorn on his remix of Night Works

Night Works is a new project from Gabriel Stebbings, former bassist in British pop kooks Metronomy.

In the group’s own words, they make “make-out music for the end of the work”, which depending on you point of view might be exhilarating or just a bit depressing. It probably depends who you’re making out with.

Anyway, Night Works’ news single ‘I Tried So Hard’ comes backed with a pretty special piece of longing electronics from Gold Panda (above). Fans of Panda’s acclaimed recent album Lucky Shiner should be all over this – for us, it’s actually a lot more interesting than a lot of that album, eschewing its warm, computer boom bap feel for a colder, more jagged finish.
