Gold Panda nods to everlasting mountains, Drake and more on new single

Gold Panda has announced a new single.

The UK producer broke through with his 2010 debut album Lucky Shiner, and ‘Mountain’ continues the riverside boom bap feel of that album, pairing a loping hip-hop tempo with layer upon layer of samples and (presumably) field recordings – there’s plenty of the “real world” in Gold Panda’s electronic bliss, and that’s one of the things that make it sound so natural. The snare rolls are, in Panda’s own words, a nod to Drake producers Noah ’40’ Shebib and Boi-1da.

‘Mountain’, along with its B-side ‘Financial District’ are out digitally this week, with a 7″ release due through Notown (UK) / Ghostly (rest of world) on June 11.
