Drew Lustman, aka FaltyDL, is a polyglot producer, hoovering up all sorts of divergent styles.

As with many of his contemporaries, Lustman mashes up two-step, dubstep and house into delightful new fusion forms. Having skipped from Swamp81 to 50Weapons to Planet Mu to Ninja Tune, he’s also notched up a rich and impressive discography. His new Summer Mix For Heads And Toes showcases his wide-ranging eye and adventurous ear.

Even though Lustman hails from New York, the mix seems tailored for a British summer: there’s patches of gloom and darkness amidst the darkness, and the atmosphere can suddenly turn on a dime. The O’Jays, Ghostface Killah and Pal Joey hit the BBQ quota, whilst Objekt and Actress take offer lilo-unfriendly delights. Lustman even dashes in some Beatles for good measure. We’ll certainly be raising a bap.
