Peaking Lights have released a synapse-scrunching new video.

‘Beautiful Son’ is only the second track on Lucifer, but it’s arguably the album’s centrepiece. Like ‘A Whiter Shade Of Pale”s organ riff or ‘My Girls” digital cascade, ‘Beautiful Son”s Morse code ostinato might well become the sonic detail that comes to define Peaking Lights’ career. Some of the band’s oeuvre doesn’t exactly command attention – there’s a difference between drifting and drifty – but ‘Beautiful Son’ gets the balance right.

Considering how languid the track is, the new video is a fairly overwhelming proposition. The hyper-colourful, ultra-mad clip features cosmic tropes, levitating cubes and loads of shots of Aaron  Coyne and Indra Dunis’ baby son (sorry, John). The hippie equivalent of the Ludovico technique. [via Dazed]
