SpaceGhostPurrp’s Raider Klan have slipped a gloomy new track onto the web.

Even casual listeners will be familiar with SGP’s modus operandi now: a looping canon choruses, slung over a backing track that sounds like first 10 seconds of ESG’s ‘UFO’. That said, ‘B.R.K’ is lighter and cleaner than much of the material on SGP’s breakthrough mixtapes Blvcklvnd Rvdix 66.6 and God Of Black. In fact, it would fit fairly neatly onto SGP’s comparatively polished 4AD full-length.

SGP does his inimitable thing on ‘B.R.K’, proving the old ‘if it ain’t broke…’ maxim. It’s also interesting to spend a bit of time his Raider Klan counterparts. Ethelfwulf – still, to our knowledge, the only rapper named after a ninth century King of Wessex – offers an abrasive counterpoint to SGP’s droopy-eyed flow. Chris Travis, meanwhile, is the least distinctive of the bunch, but rides the beat well. [via Hypetrak]
