The most surprising thing about ‘Toby Jug’ is that Doc Daneeka produced it.

‘Toby Jug’ might not sound like the super-percussive, basement house for which Doc Daneeka (aka Mial Watkins) is known. At first glance, it’s more like something from SBTRKT: downtempo and sorrowful, with soulful, R&B vocals.

In both the audio and video for ‘Toby Jug,’ vocalist Abigal Wyles is the focus. Directed, produced, and edited by Lewis Lloyd, the video melts flashes of subdued color with nostalgic carnival footage, keeping the low-key singer in the forefront. ‘Toby Jug’ is out now on Ten Thousand Yen with a remix by Lazer Sword’s Lando Kal.
