The title cut on last month’s eight track EP is well executed but unsurprising.

‘Shame’ finds both Freddie Gibbs and Madlib in their respective comfort zones. Gangsta rap purist Gibbs spits his usual drugs-and-girls rhymes, and the instrumentation is classic Madlib: nostalgic soul samples, lush strings, and woofer-massaging beats. In the video, Gibbs invites some female friends over for a series of drug deals, flipping the script on the standard issue parade-of-women rap video. A full-length album between the rapper and producer is expected this fall.
