Last week it was announced that Oneohtrix Point Never would be collaborating on a split LP with fellow synth-fiend Rene Hell.

You can listen to a track from Hell’s side of the record, In 1980 I Was A Blue Square, below. Hell’s contribution is described as “a suite of five pieces for piano, synthesizer, and computer”, “juxtaposing mid-20th century classical music with chaotic electronic blasts.”

It’s hard to think of a more succinct description of ‘Meta Concrete’, which opens with bucolic piano arpeggios before quickly being submerged in squealing, quietly tortured bursts of digital noise; a hybrid of the serene and the savage that will likely be familiar to fans of Oneohtrix’s output too.
