Maria Minerva’s third album proper, Will Happiness Find Me, is due for release through Not Not Fun on September 4.

It comes after a handful of singles for NNF sub-label 100% Silk which seemed to suggest a new direction for the singer, drawing energy from the ecstatic communion of the dancefloor – although still defined by a compellingly ramshackle, lo-fi aesthetic.

You can listen to a track from the new record, ‘Fire’, below [via Pitchfork]. It sees Minerva step back from her bedroom disco experiments in favour of dreamy, indistinct dub stylings – although the gaseous pads are redolent of 90s jungle of the aquatic, comedown-facilitating variety. It’s all fairly standard Minerva fare – until the entry of rapper Chase Royal, whose rapid-fire vocal is an unexpectedly imposing presence.
