“It’s like having a girlfriend and getting married. At some point you’ve got to make an album, otherwise the relationship will just fizzle out.”
So says Mike Skinner, suppressing a smile, when FACT TV asks him about the genesis of And That, the debut album by The D.O.T. – his collaborative project with Rob Harvey, formerly of The Music. Eschewing the storytelling style of The Streets in favour of a songwriting style “that doesn’t make a lot of sense”, The D.O.T. have crafted an impish, exuberant LP, with guests including Danny Brown and Claire Maguire. They paid us a visit in Soho, London, to tell us all about it.
