Since the demise of dubstep trailblazers Vex’d, Roly Porter has recast himself as a industrial-leaning composer and sound designer.

Porter’s phenomenal Aftertime, released last year on Subtext, was a menacing capriccio of dub, drone and contemporary classical. Later this month, Porter will release a new live 12″, entitled Fall Back – Live At Aldeburgh. The disc will document a joint performance by Porter and Dobro guitar/ondes Martenot player Cynthia Millar, recorded on October 29 2011 at Britten Studio in Snape Maltings, Suffolk.

The piece was commissioned by Aldeburgh Music, and represents the second release in the label’s Subtext Live concert album series, following on from a release by drone artist Paul Jebanasam earlier this year. Opening track ‘Three Brothers’ is available to stream below: it’s a slow-burning piece of quiet-loud-quiet drone, and shows Porter taking a backseat to Millar’s instrumental work.
