For all that the xx’s Coexist shared with its predecessor, there were notable differences between the two.

Thicker textures, the occasional unlikley flourish, a somewhat bolder approach to melody – however subtle, the trio’s second album definitely represented an evolution. A recent live session shows the band presenting familiar music in new ways.

On Saturday, the band stopped by Radio 2 to rattle through Coexist calling card ‘Angels’ and their cover of Womack & Womack’s ‘Teardrop’. ‘Rattle”s the operative word: these are unusually spartan, stripped-down takes on otherwise well-worn material. [via Complex]
