Listen to a Space Dimension Controller song off his forthcoming album

‘You Can’t Have My Love’ is tagged as galactic funk — can’t argue with that.

Announced earlier this month, Welcome to Microsektor-50 is Space Dimension Controller’s first album for R&S, who released his extended Temporary Thrillz and The Pathway to Tiraquon-6 EPs.

‘You Can’t Have My Love’ sets a narrative about a missed connection on a dance floor to a rubbery, electro-inflected body jacker. Vocals alternate between male and female perspective, switching from dense spoken-word verses to the airy, reverb-drenched choruses. Stream it below, via XLR8R.

When discussing Welcome to Microsektor-50, SDC has pointed to “the mess of 80′s/IDM/Techno/Ambient/etc that’s inside my head” as the album’s sonic inspiration and “things like Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, Star Wars, [and] John Carpenter movies” as his conceptual influences. The album is due out March 5.
