Funky favourite Lil Silva ushered in 2013 with the vocal cut ‘Work’, but he’s gone back to basics with a gnarled new 12″.

Lil Silva hasn’t snuck out a disc on his own LSWhites white label imprint for a while: last year’s ‘Gobble That’ was the last track to make the cut. A-side ‘The Split’ is a rubbery 4/4 track, closer in spirit to Syclops’ gimcrack electro than the usual UK Funky reference points. ‘Venture’, meanwhile, is the tricksier cut, a disorientating exercise in tangled  syncopation.
