Get Darker will take over South London club Fire this Saturday, February 23.

Heading the bill is Photek, the drum’n’bass legend behind records like Modus Operandi and ‘UFO’. The last several years have seen Photek return to releasing dancefloor singles after a stint soundtracking in Los Angeles, and his collaborative work with Bristol dubstepper Pinch, in particular, has proved fruitful.

Further down the bill, you have two of contemporary drum’n’bass’s best in Icicle [above] and Alix Perez, playing an “alternative set”. Given the success of Perez’s ventures into slow-mo boogie and cyber-funk as Arp 101, and Icicle’s connections to dubstep and UK house, this could be a special one.

Elsewhere, punters are in good hands with two of dark room dubstep’s leading players in V.I.V.E.K. and J Kenzo, Apollo Records shapeshifter Synkro, grime livewire Preditah and an unannounced special guest. For more information on the night and to purchase tickets, head here.

Or, of course, don’t. FACT are running a Get Darker competition this week, with one lucky ‘stepper winning entry for them plus three, Get Darker t-shirts for themselves plus three, two of Get Darker’s vinyl releases, from DJ G (‘Rivet’) and Distance (‘Troubles’), and a selection of CDs from the This Is Dubstep series. Woof! Drop us an email on competitions@thevinylfactory.com with the subject line ‘Get Darker’ to be in the draw.
